MATT GEOHAGAN

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

Coach Matt Geohagan is entering his Ninth season as head coach at Bibb County High School. The previous Eight seasons have secured the Choctaws 72 wins and a region record of 48-5. Geohagan is one of only three coaches in the school's history to advance the Choctaws to the third round of the state playoffs. In 2016, Geohagan was awarded the Tuscaloosa News Class 4A/5A Coach of the Year for the 2016 season after Advancing to the Second Round of the Playoffs. In 2017, the Choctaws advanced to the third round of the playoffs and ended the season with an 11-2 record. The Choctaws completed a perfect 10-0 regular season and advanced to the third round of the playoffs in 2019.  During the 2020 season, the Choctaws secured a 10-3 record and runners-up in the region. Bibb County football made it to the Quarterfinals State Playoffs for the 3rd time in six years and hosted a playoff game for the 6th year in a row. Last Year, the Choctaws finished the season with a 7-4 record, advancing to the second Round of the STate Playoffs With multiple athletes Sign College Scholarships As well. Geohagan’s emphasis on academic excellence matches his commitment to athletic achievements, serving as BCHS Assistant Principal As Well.

Coach Geohagan supports athletes and coaches across the state by serving as President of The AHSAA District 3 Legislative Council President and ALFCA District 3 Board Member. In addition, he was selected as Defensive Coordinator for the winning South All-Star football team In 2020. In the 2022 All-Star Game, He Coached Defensive Backs for the Winning South Team As Well. In December of 2023, Geohagan will Coach Defensive Backs in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

Prior to coming to Bibb County, Geohagan served as the Defensive Coordinator at Demopolis High School for five seasons. Before becoming a coordinator at Demopolis, Coach Geohagan coached defensive backs at Russellville High School for three seasons. During his stint in Russellville, Geohagan’s teams advanced to the state championship game two out of three seasons. Coach Geohagan began his coaching career Eighteen years ago at Demopolis, where he coached defensive line for two seasons. Prior to coaching, Geohagan attended the University of West Alabama where played safety for the Tigers for four years.

Coach Geohagan and his wife, Coty, have been married for SixTeen years. Mrs. Geohagan serves as Librarian at Bibb County High School. They have two children, Mitt and Saylor.


KEVIN MAY

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Coach Kevin May is the Head Baseball Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Choctaws. He is entering his Ninth season at Bibb County High School. During this time, the Choctaw football team has advanced to the first, second, and third round of the 4A state playoffs and the second and third round of the 5A state playoffs. May and the offensive staff have led the Choctaws to a 32 points per game scoring average over the past Eight seasons. Coach May was named the 2019 ALFCA Class 5A Assistant Coach of the Year.


In his Seven seasons as Head Baseball Coach, the Choctaw Baseball team has advanced to the second, third, and fourth round of the 4A state playoffs and the third round of the 5A playoffs.


In previous years, Coach May was the inside receivers and defensive backs coach as well as an assistant baseball coach at Demopolis High School. May played college baseball at East Mississippi Community College and earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education at The University of West Alabama.

Coach Kevin May and his wife, Nicki, have two daughters, Monroe and Nixon.


Clay Massey

Defensive Coordinator & Athletic Director

Coach Clay Massey starts his SEventh year at Bibb County as Defensive Coordinator & Athletic Director.

Massey has coached various sports at the middle and high school levels, including football, tennis, softball, track, and basketball. Prior to his work in Bibb County, Massey served as an assistant football and head tennis coach at Pelham High School.

Having coached at Demopolis, Citronelle, and Stanhope-Elmore High Schools, Coach Massey brings many years of experience to BCHS. Massey enjoys coaching and being a part of student-athletes growing on and off the field and courts of competition.

Originally from Selma and a graduate of the University of Alabama, Coach Massey is married to Julie, Counselor at Randolph Elementary, and they have two children, Sydney Kate and Andrew.


 

Coach Brett Gilbert is beginning his Eighth season of coaching. Coach Gilbert graduated from Bibb County High School in 2006 and then went on to the University of Montevallo where he received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He also received a master’s in Education from the University of West Alabama.

Coach Gilbert and his wife, Rachel, have two daughters Braylee and Blair.


 

Coach Joe Clements begins his Second season with the Choctaws and his 13th season as an assistant coach for the Bibb County School district.  As both a junior high and high school coach, Clements has served in various capacities: defensive coordinator, offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and coached basketball and baseball as well.  In his stint as a varsity coach, Coach Clements has participated in football playoff games each year and was part of a region championship team in 2014-2015.

After a serious car accident in 2012 which paralyzed Clements, he has fought tremendously in his career and personal life to overcome obstacles.  With the help of his wife, Johnel, they work together to accomplish their goals.

Coach Alan Kasper brings 37 years of teaching and coaching experience to the Choctaw coaching staff. Kasper’s years in Mississippi at Clarksdale High School, Quitman High School, and Enterprise High School along with his years in Alabama at Sweetwater High School and Demopolis High School have all impacted his teaching and coaching tenure.

Aside from coaching, Coach Kasper enjoys hunting and fishing. He is married to Peggy Kasper.

Coach Goree begins his Fourth year as an assistant for the Choctaw football program. As a 2008 Bibb County High School graduate, Goree continued his education and played baseball at Shelton State Community College. 

Goree also serves as Bibb County Baseball Assistant Coach and has for the past 8 years.

He was an Assistant Baseball Coach at Wallace-Selma Community College for 3 years and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. 

Coach Goree is married to Marley, and they have a son, Jayden.


Coach Matt Hiott Begins his Third Year the Choctaw coaching staff this year as an offensive assistant and running backs coach. A Bibb County native, Hiott played quarterback for the Choctaws during his high school tenure. Upon his graduation from BCHS, Hiott continued his athletic and educational career at Reinhardt University before transferring to Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

Coach Hiott Is Married to Mackenzie, and they Have An amazingly supportive family and wonderful Friends.

Coach Jaylon Gaines Begins His first Season Coaching at Bibb County High School and Teaching Math at Centreville Middle School. He graduated From West BlocTon high school in 2015. After high school, he

went to Rhinehardt University where he was a part of the EaGle Football Team before he transferred to The University of West Alabama.

Coach Gaines and His Wife, Brandi, have two sons, Luke and Jacob.
